Biography:
Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin, is a prominent antagonist in the Spider-Man universe. Although originating in the comics, this biography will focus on his depiction in the 2002 film, Spider-Man, directed by Sam Raimi.
Played by Willem Dafoe, Norman Osborn is initially presented as a brilliant scientist and the head of Oscorp. He desperately seeks to secure a military contract with his performance-enhancing formula. When the military hesitates, Osborn decides to test the serum on himself.
The serum amplifies his intelligence and strength but also drives him insane, creating an alternate personality: the Green Goblin. Equipped with advanced Oscorp technology, including a glider and pumpkin bombs, the Goblin terrorizes New York City.
Driven by madness and a warped sense of justice, the Green Goblin clashes with Spider-Man, who thwarts his destructive plans. The conflict becomes deeply personal as the Goblin learns Spider-Man's true identity: Peter Parker, the son of his friend Ben Parker.
The Green Goblin first appears in Amazing Spider-Man #14 in July 1964.
